Speakers

One of the unique features of the Antidote is the inclusion of our Guest Speaker slot. However, we’ve taken a slightly different approach to this. We look to attract people who have solid practical experience in the real business world.

Rather than simply invite professional speakers to come and present (and perhaps ‘pitch’ to our audience) we look for people who have a genuine passion to pass on their knowledge and experience in business. As such we don’t pay any speaker’s fees, and only select people who we confidently believe can add real value though their presentations. We want people who are passionate about business!

This idea has clearly worked for the Antidote; we’ve been very lucky to attract some excellent and top-class speakers on a range of topics. We’re always on the look out for future speakers, so here’s a quick request – perhaps you know someone who you feel should come and speak for us. If you’ve seen them ‘in action’ and you feel what they have to say would be of use and value to our audience please contact us and propose them as a future Antidote speaker.

There are some very simple criteria for our speakers that are worth mentioning:

1) The Golden Rule – speakers are NOT allowed to pitch from the platform. We’re very serious about this. There’s nothing worse that someone who spends all their time telling you how great they are and trying to sell their services or products!

2) The presentation must be business related and deliver some immediate value; the test of a good presentation is where the audience can walk away and immediately think of ways to put what they’ve learned into action.

3) We only want people who can share real life experiences of being in business. There’s plenty of text-book theory out there – we look for speakers who have ‘been there and got the t-shirt’.

If you feel you’d like to speak for us yourself, we’d like to hear from you. The only thing we should point out is we always require an independent referral for speakers. This helps us to maintain the quality of presentations and ensure our members get maximum value.
